It's finished! If I was proud of it last night, imagine my excitement now it is done! It took quite a while and was quite fiddly, but it's turned out SO WELL!!! The papers tie in together really well, and after I took this photo, I realised that on the bottom right section, the swirling plant stem disappears very appropriately into the handle! That, I have to confess, was a total fluke. But the perfect lining up on the stripy draw was not. That took carefull and precise measuring.
Here's the distance ta-da shot. We chose all the wallpaper colours based on our painted palm tree dish from the Seychelles (it's a handpainted picture of Beau Vallon - the beautiful beach on Mahe we stayed right next to). We're wondering how many times we'll have to walk through the hall before we stop pausing to admire it and comment on it's glamour and beauty! Probably many, many journies!
We've also been busy in the garden today. Well, I say busy, we only did a few jobs. I spotted our very first daffodil of the year - gorgeous:
The blackcurrant and nectarine bushes are also about to bloom and they're looking delightful:
The hebbe (and the entire patio, to be honest) is covered in busy busy ladybirds, who've hibernated all winter in the leaves and under the pebbles. We bought this two-tone ivy at the carboot sale in Woolpit this morning and have planted it up. We've protected it from Dora (our keen gardener bunny) with some chicken wire.
The heather and the euphorbia are waking up for a new year and proving that, despite my worst fears, I haven't killed them! The euphorbia is JUST about to open up. It's grown so big so quickly! Loving that!
We also bought an azalia from the carboot and dug a massive hole so we could surround it in tasty compost, rathe than the fluroescent builders sand that that particular section of flower bed if made from. I've also planted the herb and wild flower seeds that Chris got me for Christmas. (Yes, in recycled mushroom tubs. I love mushroom tubs. Endlessly useful.)
And I re-potted the spider plants I got from Mum as runners last autumn. They've grown lots, but were looking a bit pale. I got to put my crotcheted tuna tins to use too! ^__^
Just as an aside...check out how gorgeous my new owl bag is! Rach's parents got it for me for my birthday last weekend. He is luverly! Covered in vintage fabrics - and the back of each "feather' is a different colour too! That's dedication to the cause!
