I know, I know, three blogs in one day is excessive. But I'm A: catching up and B: very proud of this crumble.
Two weeks ago I had a crumble catastrophe. I guestimated the proportions of butter and flour and got it badly wrong. The result was delicious stewed fruit topped with dry and tasteless (I'd also forgotten the sugar!) uncooked flour. And I made custard far too think. It was a dessert disaster.
So yesterday I worked hard to get enough flour into my crumble mixture. I even crumbled in a digestive biscuit to add extra crunch. It was a crumble of beauty.
Just look at it:
And we've managed to make thinner custard, so that the dish didn't suck the moisture from our mouths. Much, much better. See...practise does make perfect!
