Today I finally got on with a project that I've been planning for nearly a year. We have a basic plain white bathroom cabinet. Perfectly serviceable, but a bit boring. So I've been itching to décopatch it.
I bought the paper several months ago at a craft fair - tried to chose colours that match our bathroom (which is browns and greens) and aimed for natural patterns. Luckily there were several which toned reasonably well together:
This morning I systematically tore up some of each type of paper, then sat with the left door on my lap, contentedly gluing it down.
It took around two hours, I'd guess. Once it was all covered I put an extra layer of glue over the top to act as varnish. Et voila:
It's certainly interesting. I think for it to really work I will have to décopatch the right side door as well - just looks a little odd and lop-sided at the moment.
